Relationship With Food

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works by lowering anxiety levels and helping clients create positive, practical changes in the areas that are driving their distress. Rather than dwelling on the problem, we focus on restoring balance, building resilience and moving forward in a constructive way.

Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and compulsive overeating are often closely linked to underlying anxiety and depression. In many cases, they share similarities with obsessive patterns of thinking and behaviour, where anxiety builds internally and the eating-related behaviour temporarily relieves that tension.

As with other obsessive patterns, the behaviour becomes a way of managing overwhelming feelings. The focus may appear to be food, weight or body image, but very often the underlying issue is not really about those things at all. Instead, it is commonly connected to a deeper sense of anxiety, pressure, or a feeling of being out of control in other areas of life.

The behaviour can provide short-term relief, but the cycle quickly begins again as anxiety rebuilds. Through Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, we work to reduce overall anxiety levels so that the need for those coping behaviours gradually diminishes. As the mind becomes calmer and more balanced, healthier choices begin to feel natural rather than forced.

The aim is not simply to stop a behaviour, but to address the anxiety that fuels it — helping you regain a sense of stability, control and self-trust.
