Insomnia

Hypnotherapy can gently support the mind and body in returning to natural, restorative sleep. By encouraging deep relaxation before bedtime, it helps calm the nervous system and reduce the mental overactivity that often fuels insomnia.

For some people, improvements happen quickly. For others, change may take a little longer, depending on what is happening in their wider life. Insomnia is frequently linked to stress. Even when the original stress begins to ease, the mind can hold on to a learned pattern of disrupted sleep. Hypnotherapy works to reset that pattern, allowing healthier sleep rhythms to re-establish themselves.

It’s important to recognise that lasting change is often a partnership. While hypnotherapy supports the process, small lifestyle adjustments may also be needed to reduce ongoing stress and reinforce positive sleep habits.

Most adults require between seven and eight hours of sleep each night, although individual needs vary. Sleep requirements also change with age. Many older adults find their sleep becomes lighter or more fragmented, while children and young adults — whose brains are still developing — particularly benefit from consistent, quality rest.

It is also worth remembering that brief awakenings during the night can feel much longer than they actually are. Many people believe they are barely sleeping, when in fact they are getting more rest than they realise.

Sleep disturbance can arise for many reasons — including stress, anxiety, depression, illness or changes in routine. You may struggle to fall asleep, wake during the night and find it difficult to return to sleep, or wake too early feeling unrefreshed. Whatever the pattern, poor sleep can affect concentration, mood, energy levels and overall wellbeing.

Your first session with me includes a guided relaxation experience, helping to settle the mind and begin restoring a natural sleep pattern that feels right for you. From there, we build the foundations for calmer nights and more energised days.
