Tinnitus

Hypnotherapy can be helpful in managing tinnitus by teaching you how to change your response to the sound. The aim is not necessarily to eliminate the noise itself, but to reduce how much it intrudes on your awareness.

As human beings, we naturally tune out many background sounds every day — the hum of traffic, the ticking of a clock, distant conversations. Through hypnosis, you can strengthen this natural ability and learn to shift your attention away from the tinnitus, allowing it to fade into the background rather than dominate your focus.

Some people also find it helpful to gently alter how they perceive the sound — adjusting its tone, pitch or intensity in their mind. When the brain interprets the sound differently, it often feels less intrusive and easier to live with.

In most cases, tinnitus is not harmful, though it can understandably be frustrating or distressing. Common causes include changes in hearing sensitivity, exposure to loud noise, ear infections or wax build-up. It is important that any tinnitus symptoms are assessed medically before beginning hypnotherapy.

While stress does not directly cause tinnitus, it can increase awareness of it and make the experience feel more intense. Many people notice their symptoms become more pronounced during periods of emotional strain.

As part of your sessions, you will learn self-hypnosis techniques that allow you to call upon this calmer, more balanced state whenever you need it. By reducing stress and strengthening your ability to shift attention, tinnitus often becomes far less dominant in daily life.

The goal is to help you regain a sense of control — so the sound no longer controls you.
